Picture of the gorgeous, Gothic stain glass windows of Conron Hall in University College, the oldest building at the University of Western Ontario. Conron Hall is without a doubt the most beautiful lecture theatre on campus; for a second, you will be forgiven for thinking you have walked into Hogwarts. It’s summer, it’s Saturday, it’s the farmers’ market in St Catharines. This day there was also a classic car show downtown, so there was even more people than normal. We had tacos (authentic stuff, not texmex) for breakfast and ice cream for dessert (home made lavender ice cream for me). We like going here to eat good food and browse (and sometimes buy) interesting cheeses and breads. We’re starting to know the people that sell cheese paninis out of a trailer (eight-ten different varieties of cheese in one sandwich — yum!). We like cheese.

Canada’s Parliament, in Victorian neogothic style, during a snow squall in late October. Very few people see this sight, preferring rather to stay in-door with something warm. To sensible people, this is a superior option. But then you do lose out on sights like these.

This is the fifth post in a series. Jenna and I went to Ottawa for a weekend in the middle of October, finally–neither of us had yet been there, even after several years in Canada, and considering that Ottawa isn’t really that far away from Niagara. Jenna wanted to go to a conference on global health so it was a good excuse to go.
