Helios wanted to go out and sniff the and the signs of spring (crocuses started sprouting in the flower beds on the first of March) and celebrate the good weather. Well, he didn’t really want to go outside, but he’s getting more used to it. We didn’t stay out long, though, it was still below zero and the little guy isn’t mentally prepared for it . But before he went inside to the safety and warmth of his prison, he got to explore the bushes.

And here is evidence that spring really is here:

I just took a few hundred pictures off my camera, dating back as far as Christmas. My memory card reader went on the fritz. Here’s Helios, licking sun from his namesake.

I got a good picture of Morpheus, his black features are hard to capture.

Helios is surprisingly comfortable outside on the lawn.

School is over and it’s spring once again. Time for Morpheus to once more venture into the great outdoors.

And here’s a picture of Morpheus and Jenna in the snow. He’s very traumatised.

St Catharines had a prodigous snowfall over the last couple of days (and more to come) – about 40 cm. We decided it was time to let Morpheus experience the big, white world… He was none too pleased, squawked a lot. We took him inside after a few minutes. No animals were hurt in this experiment.

Helios (the orange cat) has so far been overrepresented on this blog, so here’s another picture of that black bundle of joy, Morpheus. Helios, by virtue of his colour, photographs much better. If I use a flash, Morph will get a strong sheen in his fur; if I don’t the black clipping will swallow all the details (outside works much better though). This one is a rare exception.

Our cats are normally indoor cats, but Morph has had a yearning to explore the world beyond the big glass panes and those pieces of wall that tend to magically swing open. The other one, Helios, is terrified of the outside. But Morph got his wish not that long ago… this was his first major adventure outside.
