If you’ve been following my posts from the last few days, you may have discerned that I’ve been posting panorama pictures I took long ago. I’ve just recently stitched these together.

Here’s idyllic South Haven, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It’s nice to go there and lounge on the beach for a day, even if the water temperature doesn’t quite reach the same levels as in the Mexican Gulf.

Here’s a panorama of Missoula, the second largest city in Montana and home of the University of Montana. I was there for a three day workshop on the ethics of geoengineering in October, 2010. Though there was not much time for getting around and seeing the wonderful nature of Montana and the hues of autumn, I did manage to climb the hill of the valley to get this panorama of the city. I’d like to go back to Montana, to walk under majestic Ponderosa pines and take in their vanilla fragrance. And, of course, I want to see Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Next time.

I finally managed to put together a panorama from a bunch of pictures I had taken for that purpose quite a while ago. What kept me from posting this earlier was that the TIFF source files were too large for the program I was using; it ran out of RAM (no matter how large I made the scratch file). I finally put it together manually, after wasting more hours than I care to admit.

Anyway, the star of this post is this magnificient view, overlooking the landscape in Norway where I used to live before I came to Canada. In the picture you can see Lake Tyrifjorden, the Hole peninsula and beyond that the region of Ringerike. The viewpoint is called “The King’s View” – and it is truly fit for a king. Here is the general area on Google Maps.

The steps up to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago offers this stunning panorama of the city skyline. I took this without a tripod (actually, I’ve done all my panoramas so far without a tripod :S), so it’s not perfect, but the view more than compensates for that. The Shedd Aquarium itself was pretty cool too.

This is a 190 degree view from the deck of my parents’ house in Hønefoss, Norway. If not stunning, it is at least pretty. You can see my sister Cecilie sunbathing to the right. The wall on both sides of the panorama is the same wall. This is from 2006; it has just taken me a while to post it.

I took this panorama at the top of the Decew Falls (we have a hydroelectric power plant on campus). Why on Earth have they fenced in this wonderful view? Everywhere else it’s just impossible to get a clear view because of trees.
